What is the Bowls & Beverage League?

This League was added to the things that the Preston LBC wanted to offer to the residents of Cambridge and surrounding areas.

It started in 2022 as a small group of 25 players, 20 of whom were new to lawn bowling. It grew the next season to 48 and capped out in 2024 and again in 2025 with 16 teams of 4 players each. That meant that the 8 rinks were filled each week.

Some groups enter as a 4 person team, made up of family, work mates, neigbours, curling teams and friends. Others have joined as pairs, trios or even singles and we do our best to fill the team. This all makes for a very social evening of bowls and fun.

How does it differ from a regular membership?

A participant who is a member of only the B & B League is classed for the club as a B Class Member. This means they may not vote at Preston LBC meetings and may not serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors. They may serve on committees.

A member, as part of their membership agreement, acknowledges that they will be restricted to only play in the B & B League at the club, but may take part in other social events.

The bowling season is limited to 10 evenings (plus) an Open House.

How is it similar to a regular membership?

When you join you, like regular members of the club, will be submitting a fee that makes you a member of the Ontario Lawn Bowling Association. This provides insurance coverage at all sanctioned OLBA events. You are then free to compete in any Provincial or District 7 playdowns, all open tournaments at any OLBA member club, including those at Preston LBC.

Cost

Not a regular club member - $140 ($40 OLBA Fee, $100 League Fee)

Already a club member - $100 ($0 OLBA Fee, $100 League Fee)
